Training

Technical Officials

Our Area and clubs swim under FINA and NSW swimming rules. The most effective way to learn these rules and to ensure that our meets are run efficiently and in accordance with these rules is to obtain technical official accreditation from NSW Swimming in the various disciplines required to run a meet.

The positions for which accreditation is offered are:

Both the district and your club need interested parents and young adults to train for these positions. Young people aged 14-16 may complete a Restricted Timekeepers credential which will be upgraded to a full credential on reaching the age of 16. A Restricted Credential is valid for club and District Level Meets.

Training sessions for each position will take place at various venues throughout the district if there are sufficient number of candidates. Each training session is of approx 2 hours duration.

The training sessions are followed by examination and assessment of individuals to determine their competence to perform the duties of the position. After assessment as competent, credentials are issued by Swimming Australia under the National Officiating Program.

It can be arranged for you to do a training session at one venue and to do the examination/assessment at another venue if the dates do not suit you.- Let us know.
